EDC was incorporated in 1990 as a Virginia-based general contracting and construction management firm. Initially, EDC’s General Contracting group focused on providing interior contracting services. Repeated requests from clients for “out-of-the-ground” construction led us to expand our focus as well as expand our market geographically. Since 2002, EDC has been nationally ranked among the twenty-five most active contractors of both interior and shell space by Retail Traffic Magazine and Mid-Atlantic Construction.

EDC’s Development Management group began in 1991 with the award of the Boulders complex, a two million square foot office park in Richmond, Virginia. Since then, EDC has taken the leadership role as development manager for numerous retail and institutional clients including Virginia Tech Foundation, Hollins University, Emory & Henry College, Compson Development, and EDCO. Serving as Owner’s Representative, EDC manages the entire development process from preconstruction through final occupancy.

EDC attributes its success to our professionalism and our strong commitment to service. Through our commitment to long-term relationships with clients, we continue to grow our market share. Today, EDC derives over 80% of its revenue from existing clients and serves their construction needs in 29 states.
