the opportunity

EDC is seeking Construction Management or Civil Engineering interns for this upcoming 2024 summer season. Interns will have the ability to work in our Preconstruction department and our Construction department.

what you'll do

• Engineering:
• Assist the Project Engineer with obtaining information and approvals for processing shop drawings and submittals.
• Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties.
• Assist in the preparation of the contract items list.
• Superintending:
• Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes.
• Ensure that subcontractors understand and adhere to the job schedule.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with EDC’s safety program, safety codes, and regulations.
• Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
• Preconstruction:
• Assist with obtaining subcontractor proposals for current bid opportunities.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to assess current field conditions and compare them to drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of estimates to evaluate subcontractor proposals. 

What We Expect from You 

• Working toward a four-year degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent degree
• Basic knowledge of building construction experience
• Capable of identifying problems and recommending corrective actions
• Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
• Strong ability to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and written
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the US
